On November 8, 2016 the XVI Regional Festival of Creativity for Children and Youth with Disabilities “Let’s Believe in Ourselves” took place in the specialized residential school #18 for children with hearing impairment.

Almost 200 children and youngsters with disabilities from the Dniprovskiy district of Kyiv city have visited the festival.

We are deeply grateful to all participants for their courage and talent!!!

We have been very pleased to be involved into organization of such an event for many years already!

In August 2016 thanks to the invitation of our partner – german charity organization “Ukraine-Kinder-Hilfe-Augsburg” 21 children received an opportunity to visit a summer camp not far from extremely beautiful Augsburg.

Each day was full of pleasant impressions and emotions, memories of which will be kept by kids in their hearts. Thanks to the efforts of the organizers and sponsors of this project, children got a possibility to visit the art museum and the museum of the most modern material – carbon, to see impressive Münster Cathedral that is one of the most beautiful buildings in Europe and even to conquer 778 steps in order to get to its viewing platform.

Children have also visited a zoo, where specially for them a fur seal show was organized. During the visit to the farm, children got an opportunity to ride a horse. Legoland and aqua parks are among other attractions that brought many pleasant and unforgettable emotions for the kids.

Thanks to the programme children were given a possibility to participate in different kind of activities, to get new experience, to discover and develop new skills and talents. In the camp children were supervised by the educators who took care of them, helped them to discover new world, without fear and violence, taught to build relations with other children and adults and shared joy of discovering the world together.

ICO “Messenger of Peace” cooperates with Mostyshche Special School of Kiev Region since 2012.This is a special facility for children with problem of mental development. ICO “Messenger of Peace” supports this facility with children development activities, trainings for teachers and tutors, material support, repair of laundry and showers rooms and their equipping.

This year we received grant from IWCK to equip of the sewing workshop which is very useful for girls with problems with mental development.

The children from the residential school #18 were visited by the fairy kitty Markiza that brought many wonders in her magical bag.

Boys and girls were helping Markiza with performing tricks. Here one could see a flying table; a stick turned into a kerchief; a ball that was appearing and disappearing at the kids’ wish, and many-many other wonderful marvels.

The festivity and sweets brought a lot of joy and happiness for the children and filled their hearts with faith in miracles!

We glad to inform that second stage of repair of the Social-Psychological Rehabilitation Center for Children and Youth with Special Needs was finalized!

At the beginning 2016 we did reconstruction of very long and dark premise to child-friendly and safety environment by common efforts. Electrical system, floor were renewed but the main the mouldiness, which was on the floor and walls, was extirpated. A bacterial lamps were bought to be on the save side to prevent emerge of the mouldiness ones again.

Besides mentioned a sanitary engineering was repaired and new energy-efficient windows were installed, cloakroom and stock for humanitarian aid “Bank of Goodness” were equipped.

Henceforth the staying in the Centre became more comfortable and safety!

As usual, this event hosted many new and interesting people, introduced various cultures and provided lots of tasty treats.

We would like to thank all the participants, and our special gratitude goes to the organizers from IWCK for their work and support and the provided opportunity to participate in the event.

Celebratory gathering dedicated to the Day of Prayer for the Orphans took place on November 10 in the ball room of the Kyiv City Administration. This unbelievable event was organized by the Kyiv regional agency for children, alliance "Ukraine without Orphans" in cooperation and participation of Churches Council and Religious Organizations of Kyiv region.  

Twelve families with children, who have functional disabilities, also took part in the even. Since many years it has become a custom, to dedicate second Sunday of November in the churches all over Ukraine to the Prayer for children, who a deprived of parental care. The aim of event is to remind us about Christian values in protecting and caring for these children and supporting them on their life path. 

During the second quarter 3 humanitarian loads were received. The goods are used forsocial assistance to children’s care facilities and 13 NGO.  Through these organizations more than 4 500 vulnerable people received aid.

The first family (mother — Olga Kondaurova and her daughter — Polina) went to the hospital in Augsburg town (Germany). In the same time this clinic provides practice training for Ukrainian specialists who will work in Social Rehabilitation Centre for children and youth with special needs. Main part of expenditures is covered by our partners — UkraineKinderHilfe Augsburg e.V.
